Pristine Wilderness Tours Tagish, Yukon

Category: Activity
Throughout our long winters, you can experience the pristine beauty of the Yukon Southern Lake’s region in the best possible way – by dog team. Nestled among breath taking mountains and majestic waters, Pristine Wilderness Tours offers an experience that is as unique and as personal as their intimate family run kennel.

For the past 8 years Ed, Michelle and Keegan and up to 50 Alaskan huskies have been providing visitors with adventures from 1 hour to 7 days. With our combined experience of some 31 years we would love to share some of our knowledge with you.

Ed has been running dogs for 23 years and has completed 5 Yukon Quests, including finishing 8th in one of the coldest Quests on record. Michelle has been running dogs for 9 years and has completed 3 Yukon Quests finishing 8th twice and 6th in 2007.

Our mushing camp starts with us getting you prepared in warm winter gear. Then you\'ll learn the basics of mushing and spend a short time being pulled behind a snowmobile to get the feel of the sled before you\'re hooked up with your own sled dog team.

A small team is then hooked up for you (you\'re welcome to help!), and you\'re off to feel the thrill and beauty of running with dog power. Ed or Michelle will be your guide as you spend the afternoon enjoying the Southern Lakes scenery. There\'s lots of wildlife in the area, and travelling by nearly silent dog sled greatly increases the chances of glimpsing a caribou or wolf along the trails. The whisper of the sled runners on the snow is a sound you\'ll long remember when you\'re looking back on this experience.

A hearty homemade lunch will be supplied and enjoyed by a campfire. Sip on a hot chocolate and warm up for your run home.
