Welcome to the Blue Shank Inn overlooking the Wilmot River in Summerside, Prince Edward Island! We are a family owned and operated Bed and Breakfast Inn. The west wing of our historic home (circa 1878) offers a peaceful and private haven exclusively for the use of our guests.

Guests enjoy a private entrance to the Inn where they can choose from three lovely guest rooms, all with private baths. Our rooms are also equipped with televisions and portable phones. A common sitting area is provided with tables and chairs and can often find guests and hosts enjoying a cup of tea here in the evening hours together and there is always the possibility of having a cut-throat game of Scrabble.

The Sunflower Room:
Decorated in rich warm hues, this room features a three piece ensuite bath with european flair. The ground floor location makes this space ideal for the traveller who finds stairways a challenge: and closer to the breakfast room so much the better!

The Room with a View:
Overlooking the broad front lawn and the Wilmot River, this room features two double beds and is served by a private four piece bath. Watch the blue herons feed on the river, read a book, or have a nap; this tranquil space invites relaxation and rejuvenation.

The Harris Room:
The architectural gift of William Critchlow Harris is most apparent in this intimate and graceful space. The large bay windows offer a glimpse of the picturesque Summerside Harbour through the sheltering linden trees. This room is a favourite of honeymooners and any who are seeking a quiet and romantic refuge.
Featuring a large four piece ensuite, and space for a cot this room is also perfect for a vacationing family. Ask about our special rate when booked along with The Room with a View, a perfect solution for the larger family group travelling together.

Although it was added-on in 1878, the Inn is still the “modern” wing of our large composite style home. The original loyalist farmhouse (where we reside year-round) was built in the early 1800’s!
